For nearly 100 years, Quinnipiac University has called New Haven County home. A new kind of “library” is opening at Quinnipiac, one where the items being borrowed can change lives, restore independence and even help older adults travel the world. One family recently used wheelchairs from the program to take their grandparents to Rome.
This year’s Denise D’Ascenzo Foundation Walk to Fight Rare Diseases will be held at Quinnipiac on Saturday, April 25. Occupational Therapy student Aly Taggart ’26 and her family will participate in support of Taggart’s brother, who was born with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS).
Turning community service into a powerhouse event, Quinnipiac’s 17th annual Big Event deployed hundreds of Bobcats across the region to tackle seasonal projects for dozens of community organizations during a single, high-impact day.
The impact of Quinnipiac was highlighted from a powerful platform during the first Hamden Day at the Connecticut Capitol, with a focus on the university’s role as a vital engine for the state’s healthcare system and as a strong partner with the Town of Hamden.
As champions of community service, our students volunteer throughout Connecticut, from assisting with Ronald McDonald House projects and raising money for charities to motivating school children in the region with Read Aloud days to beautifying neighborhoods. Our health professions students provide free clinics, our law students perform legal services and our accounting students help with tax preparation for residents in need. The university enriches the community with cultural opportunities, athletics and entertainment options that attract thousands annually.
